The city faces east, so sunrise over the water is the strong one. For sunset light, choose a roof looking west, over the river, the airport or the mountains.
The wind decides which side aircraft approach from. The same rooftop can give a completely different angle on different days.
After 19:00–20:00 many places turn the music up. If you want photographs and conversation, come earlier and ask about the programme.
Soft light and a textured sky can beat harsh midday, but strong wind and thunderstorms make an open roof a poor plan.
Before you go
Check the direction of the view and the time of sunset or sunrise.
Confirm reservations, minimum spend and pool access.
Look at the forecast for wind, rain and cloud.
For planes, check recent posts and the current approach direction.
Quick answers
Nóc Rooftop is known locally for its angle on the airport. The view depends on the take-off and landing direction, so check recent posts and whether the venue is actually operating before you go.
Vivid on the 21st floor of the Radisson gives a direct panorama of the beach and Son Tra. The Roof and Maxi offer a different, more bar-like format. The choice depends on height, music and time of day.
The most direct option is My Khe or Man Thai: the coast faces east. Arrive before sunrise and judge the sea by the flags and the weather.
Choose a place with a westward view: The Sail, some city rooftop bars, or safe viewpoints on Hai Van and Son Tra. Over the sea in Da Nang, sunrise is the better one.
